He has trust issues, and doesnt like when strangers get super close to him, exspecially men. Female strangers don't bother him as much, but he is still weary of them. It takes a lot to get JJ's full trust, but when some one gets that trust, they have it for a long time. JJ has a very goofy personality, he loves to pick things up in his mouth, like brushes and chew on them. He has a habit of wanting to unlock himself out of his stall, or open the pasture gate as well. He loves to try and knock his grain bucket over and eat the grain off of the ground. If his grain is in a bucket thats tied up, he stands there and seems to savor the taste. JJ comes when he is called, and is really gullable about that, he always thinks that his owner will have treats with her. JJ can also be very stubborn at time, but has his moments where he can get studdish, but never out control, he knows where his manners are. history: JJ started life under the bright lights, in one of the top notch breeding stables in the United States. He was born to an APHA, HUS world championship Sire, and a dam who had several APHA points, so his owners were pretty excited about him. They were even more excited about the foal, when JJ turned out to be a colt, and had the color and chrome they were looking for, plus the friendly temperment to boot. Jj learned the basics as he grew up and turned into a weanling. He was weaned off of his mother before being taught how to lunge. He was then entered in a few APHA longe line classes, but because his owners didn't want to push the young colt, they didnt enter him in any Lunge Lune fiturities. Reaching his two year old year with a few lunge line wins under his belt, JJ was broken carefully and slowly by one of the trainers at the barn. JJ responded easily to the training, and was well on his way to being started very well and almost "finished" in the sense that he knew how to do most of the under saddle work, like move his shoulders, hind quarters, sidepass, and pick up both of his leads. Just after JJ was almost finished, his owners hit a fanancial block, and had to sell off most of their horses, including JJ. JJ ended up going for nearly half of what he truely should have gone for. In his new home, JJ turned into a different young stallion. He was hsy and not so curious like his owners had sad they were, and he tended to want to buck randomly when little kids were riding him. He moved from one home to the next, where he ended up at a very rough trainers. The trainer tried to beat JJ into submission, and usually it worked. Eventually, the trainer got sick of having to "beat" JJ into submission to get him to behave, so he dumped him at an auction. KC just happened to be wandering through the sales barn, looking for a quick project to train and sell, when she stumbled across JJ, who was cowered in the back of the stall. She ended up taking him home for a whopping $1500. When she got him home, she realized he had been partcially drugged, and through patience and timet, KC was finally able to get close to JJ and slowly won his trust. And as his trust in her grew, so did his old personality. Eventually, KC was able to ride him and get him to the point where he didn't completley freak out about whips and plastic tarps. And with help of a good friend, KC "finished" JJ out in many APHA Pleausre events, and plans to start showing him at more breed shows in the feature, along with parcially marketing him as a stud. |
