He’s quite intelligent. You can always see the gears of his mind churning, and working to figure things out. He actually enjoys figuring things out, but while most horses may use that intelligence to escape from their pens, or stalls, Mephi simply uses his mind to make up things for himself to do, games so to say. Like many horses, that actually have a brain in their skulls, he’s quite the trickster. He’s known for pulling things out of people’s pockets, if they’re sticking out. He’s also known for just genuinely getting into mischief, but in a good natured kind of way. Because of that though, he’s became quite the cocky thing. He holds himself with a lot of pride, and confidence, like he knows that he’s an attractive stallion, and wants to flaunt it. Perhaps the attention from Anita’s gone to his head a little, but then, who really cares? He’s an interesting character, and a joy to be around if you know him well enough. Most wouldn’t assume that the confident young stallion has a fear; but he does, towards human men. Why, you ask? That is simple, and will be explained in his history. Like a lot of horses, Mephistopheles is an easily irritated creature. If he doesn’t want to do something, he simply isn’t going to be forced to do it. With that being said, he’s also a fairly stubborn thing, despite the fact that he is rather easy to train and teach things. As for riding him? Well, you better be pretty experienced. There are few people that he likes, and it’s only those few that he doesn’t give a hard time, everyone else gets the same stubborn treatment of not wanting to cooperate. You wouldn’t expect Mephi to be one that is easily scared. Dogs, cars, and many loud noises spook him, and the scent or sound of a whip sends him over the edge in terror. The reason to many of these fears are unknown to everyone, even Anita. But, it’s been proven over and over again, that it’s an actual fear that resides with in Mephi. So, then you may ask, how is he so good at show jumping? That is simple. No one but Anita rides him, and he’s come to see her as his comfort object. The noise, and sights of the show ring are tuned out, and toned down, as they go around the arena. It is because of her, that he is such a confident jumper with in the arena. Even though, he’s quite the confident jumper anywhere really, just so long as he has someone he trust leading him. history: Life started out as unusual for Mephistopheles. His mother, whose name was never really known to anyone, lived on a ranch in the state of Nevada. She was two months away from giving birth when one night, a storm spooked her, and sent her over the fence and into the desert. She wandered for a few days, trying to find her way back, before she eventually just became one of the wild herds in the Desert. She gave birth with those horses, and raised her colt until he was about eight months old. They got caught in a round up, or Mephi did anyways, along with several others of the younger horses in the heard. Most of the older, more experienced horses escaped, because they actually knew where to go. He was sold to an older man from out of state ( the man lived in Alabama ). The man wasn’t the kindest of people; in fact he was actually pretty damn mean. He used harsher methods of controlling his horses, none of which worked on a young wild colt like Mephi. The man kept him for four months before driving him to a horse auction. He wasn’t much older than a year at that time. He was scared, and alone, and purposely tried to scare others away. It was at that auction that he got taken by Anita, who he didn’t much mind. She didn’t look at him like a starving dog looks at their prey, rather she looked at him like a friend. She seemed much kinder than the other people who looked at him, and he liked that. He wanted her to take him, rather than going back to that horrible man’s run down farm. - - - more coming soon |
